Exhibition for the program “Das fliegende Künstlerzimmer”
with the artists Eva Funk, Claudia Sárkány, Christina Wildgrube and pupils
Gongongong reflected on what constitutes and moves artistic work in schools through the “Das fliegende Künstlerzimmer” program. Rather than showing individual results, this exhibition was designed to convey their overarching ideas. Individual shapes such as a dog's nose, tongue, apple skin or popcorn are representative of the various artistic projects that they have implemented with pupils at their respective schools. Together they form a large picture.
A stamp station in the exhibition picks up on the shapes and encourages visitors to get creative themselves. Taking their own surroundings as a starting point for artistic activity is a key aspect of the flying artists' work, which they also integrate into the exhibition in the form of a workshop. Pupils and interested parties can compose their own school gongs in the exhibition with the help of found materials, self-made instruments and their voices, which will be available to visitors to the exhibition in the digital “Gong Bibliothek”.
As a special feature, the “Gong Stück” developed especially for the exhibition will also be heard in the exhibition. Here, the respective gongs of the schools from Großenlüder, Niederbrechen and Seligenstadt meet and overlap in time, creating an unusual new rhythm. After the exhibition, the gongs were brought back to the schools and used there temporarily as gong alternatives.
